A vision that transforms, a space reborn.
Official inauguration of the new Palasport at the Porto del Levante, a place that breathes once again. Restored to the city through the vision of the Municipality of Genoa, RPBW – Renzo Piano Building Workshop, and OBR architects, the former Fair has been redesigned as a contemporary system of connections—featuring a 5,000-capacity arena and a commercial hub with nearly 100 businesses across three levels.
In this complex setting, SANDRINImetalli provided 13,000 m² of SANDfuture roofing and 3,000 m² of SAND18 facade, designed to interpret oval geometries, concentric rings, and low-slope surfaces. This work was developed in close collaboration with CDS Holding, the Palasport client, and CDS Costruzioni, the general contractor responsible for the redevelopment of the existing structure.
The construction also involved Bronco Roofing for the roof installation and MAP S.p.A. for the facade, ensuring operational precision within a context defined by geometric, performance, and environmental constraints.
The roof rings, made with SANDfuture 575 tapered panels, were engineered to withstand marine environment stresses, guaranteeing high performance through:
✅ Wind load management
✅ Thermal performance
✅ Long-term durability
The SANDactive® treatment applied to the roof—developed with PURETi Italy—contributes to air quality improvement by combating dirt, bacteria, and pollution. Additionally, the system is prepared for approximately 2,800 m² of photovoltaics, integrating sustainability and safety.
The SAND18 curtain wall, made of prepainted steel, wraps the building in a metallic skin that reflects the sea light and resists coastal stress, reinforcing the work’s architectural presence.
Special thanks to CDS Holding, RPBW Renzo Piano Building Workshop, BroncoCoperture, and partners for the collaboration and synergy that made this intervention possible.
A project that confirms the role of an integrated approach, where materials, technical expertise, and continuous support converge into a single coordinated solution.
